The Government of the Republic of Lithuania faced significant repercussions from the global financial crisis of 2007-08, characterized by a decline in exports, escalating unemployment, and a growing deficit. Prime Minister Kubilius and the Ministry of Economy held a firm conviction that
Mr. Venslauskas' economic, trade, and market intelligence, combined with his leadership and counsel, were indispensable for overcoming the economic crisis in Lithuania. Mr. Venslauskas promptly developed Lithuania's Economic Development Strategy in response to a request from Vice Minister of Economy Rimantas Zylius and the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. The Strategy was accepted without objections and successfully implemented by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania
